Open water swim panic attack?

Dean's Blue Hole, the deepest blue hole in the world
Dean's Blue Hole, the deepest blue hole in the world

This is  not really related to triathlon or endurance sports but it is nice to share.

Bon alors voila, la saison arrive, and soon enough we will be switching from chlorine to fresh/salt water swimming – hopefully in a lake somewhere. Panic attack syndrome will resume among the ever worried triathletes crew.

To help you cope with this, I suggest you keep this video on file and watch over and over again.

This guy is Guillaume Nery, world class free diver from France.

The soundtrack is signed by the excellent brits, Archive.

  1. to help people cope further, i suggest they play a game of water polo.

    seriously!

after playing some water polo, you’ll get used to being below water and holding your breath for 10-15 seconds (and sometimes more) at a stretch while doing anaerobic activity. you’ll gain a lot of confidence and realize just how far you can push your body.

plus water polo is just a lot of fun!

    1. Yeah. No. Something about guys grabbing my junk underwater while the ref has his eyes turned. Not that there’s anything wrong with that!
