Next Sunday (May 8th), Monterrey (Mexico) will host the 3rd World Cup of 2011. Despite the fact that the Yokohama WCS has been postponed, most of the big names on the circuit will not be part of the field of this event.
On the men’s side, the major factor will definitely be: Brendan Sexton who finished 2nd in Mooloolaba and 4th in Sydney, Jarrod Shoemaker who didn’t do woo well at Sydney but who’s always a threat on the run, Daniel Unger, the 2007 ITU World Champion and the experienced athletes like Bevan Docherty, Ivan Rana and Hunter Kemper who won the World cup in Ishigaki.
As for our canadian, it will be the first race of the year for Kyle Jones and we will assist to the come back of Brent McMahon who had a «year and a half taper» (injury) as he wrote on his blog.
On the women’s side, the ones to look out for will be: Emma Jackson, the 2010 U23 ITU World Champion, Liz Blatchford who has shown some consistency by finishing 7th in Mooloolaba and 8th in Sydney, Ai Ueda, the japanese who has been very successful in Monterrey and Huatulco in the last two years and Emmie Charayron who finished 3rd at the 2010 U23 ITU World Championship.
We have 3 canadian women who will be on the starting line sunday: Kathy Tremblay, the 2008 Olympian who now trains with the Dillon squad, Kyla Coates who finished 26th in Mooloolaba and Joanna Brown, the 2010 Junior ITU World Championship bronze medalist who will race in her first ever World Cup.
Dimanche prochain (8 mai), Monterrey (Mexique) accueillera la troisième Coupe du Monde ITU de 2011. Malgré le fait que la course de série de Championnat du Monde de Yokohama soit reportée, la majorité des acteurs majeurs du circuit ne prendront pas le départ.

Pour ce qui est de nos canadiens, Kyle Jones compétitionnera pour la première fois cette saison et Brent McMahon effectuera un retour à la compétition, lui qui a été écarté pendant un an et demi en raison d’une blessure.
Du côté des femmes, les aspirantes aux grands honneurs sont: Emma Jackson, la Championne du Monde ITU de 2010 chez les moins de 23 ans, Liz Blatchford qui a fait preuve de constance en terminant 7ème à Mooloolaba et 8ème à Sydney, Ai Ueda qui a connu du succès dans les Coupes du Monde de Monterrey et de Huatulco, lors des deux dernières années, et Emmie Charayron, médaillée de bronze chez les moins de 23 ans au Championnat du Monde ITU de 2010.
Trois canadiennes seront de la partie: Kathy Tremblay, l’Olympienne de 2008 qui s’entraîne désormais au sein de l’équipe Dillon, Kyla Coates qui a pris le 26ème rang de la Coupe du Monde de Mooloolaba et Joanna Brown, médaillée de bronze chez les juniors en 2010 au Championnat du Monde qui en sera à un premier départ en Coupe du Monde.
