NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO! Findlay possibly/possiblement DNS ITU London

From/de Calgary Herald.

Paula Findlay travels to London this week to hopefully defend her title in the World Championship Series triathlon on Saturday. The problem for Findlay is a lingering hip injury might keep her out of the race.

Patrick Kelly, the Edmonton athlete’s coach, said Monday the right hip injury that forced the 22-year-old to withdraw from an Edmonton World Cup race three weeks ago is not yet fully healed.

« There has been some improvement, » Kelly said. « It’s a tender area that can be slow to recover, but it is showing good improvement. It is not clear yet if she will be able to go in and be competitive on race day. »

Findlay first injured the hip during a training run in Victoria on June 30. A small tear in her right rectus femoris muscle, which is involved in hip flexion, was diagnosed about a week later, days before the Edmonton race.

A decision will be taken wednesday.
