Of course Magog was not the only race last weekend… Here are some other interesting results from around the world :
ITU European Cup Banyoles – Spain
On the men side, canadian John Bird managed a 30th place in a strong field. Without surprise, Javier Gomez took the win in the way he uses to race : very strong swim, strong bike and a devastating run. He does it this way even if he could just sit in the bunch on the swim-bike and just outrun everybody…
On the woman side, Alex Coates was not happy with her 19th place. Here is what she wrote on twitter : «Had the worst swim ever :(. Ended up by myself watching main pack (everyone) swim away. Cheering myself up by stalking Gomez. »
Virgin Active London Tri -UK
One week before London WCS, the city was hosting another draft-legal race. 1,5km swim-38km bike and 9,8km run. Ritchie Nicholls was first to cross the line in front of 2008 Olympian Jarrod Shoemaker who managed a fourth place. My guess is that we wasn’t rested for this race and that he waits next week to show is real fitness.
Calgary 70.3
Finally, my favorite athlete was in action this weekend in Calgary ! Paul Tichelaar finished in 8th place in a time of 4h16min. Tim O’Donnell was the fastest in a time of 3h56min…
Tenille Hoogland of Canada was the fastest woman, only six seconds in front of second place finisher Sara Gross.
